  • Do I need to wear sunscreen with my Bluestone Sunshield?
While your Bluestone Sunshield provides UPF 50+ protection and blocks 99% of UV rays, we still recommend wearing sunscreen on exposed areas of skin for full coverage. The shield is an excellent physical barrier, pairing with sunscreen ensures you're protected from reflected and indirect UV rays as well.
  • Do all Bluestone Sunshields offer the same level of protection?
All Bluestone Sunshields provide UPF 50+ protection and block 99.95% of UVB rays. However, the addition of tint and color finishes enhances UVA protection, offering an extra layer of defense against sun exposure. If you're looking for the highest level of sun protection, we recommend choosing any of our colored shields, followed by the black, and then the clear.

Yes, we offer a return and repair service for damaged or loose sunshields. Please contact our customer support team with details of the issue, and we'll guide you through the process for either a repair or replacement, depending on the situation. https://www.bluestonesunshields.com/contact

  • Bluestone Sunshields are ANSI Z80.3 certified, what does that mean?"
Bluestone Sunshields are tested according to the American National Standards Institute. This is a voluntary set of technical regulations that we adhere to ensure our products meet the standards in safety and protection. These tests are complete by a 3rd party lab as well as we frequently do in-house testing to demonstrate how our products work. Below is the set of testing that are done under the ANSI z80 standards which ensure our shields allow for the correct amount of light and visibility required for non-prescription sunglasses.
  • What is a UPF 50+ rating and what does it mean?
UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor. A rating of UPF 50+ means that the fabric blocks at least 98% of the sun’s harmful UV rays, allowing less than 2% to pass through. In other words, it provides excellent protection against both UVA and UVB rays—helping to shield your skin from sunburn, premature aging, and long-term sun damage. UPF testing by a third-party lab measures how much UV radiation is blocked by fabric by exposing it to UV light and calculating the amount of UV rays that pass through, resulting in a UPF rating that indicates the level of protection. Below is a screenshot from our UPF Testing for the Full Lux Mermaid and Full Lux Rose Gold:
  • What is the Blue Light Transmittance of Bluestone Sunshields?
Bluestone Sunshields have filters that also block blue light, and can help reduce exposure to blue light waves that can keep you awake and cause other damage. The table below shows the amount of Blue Light that is able to transmitt though our shields:
  • How do I clean my Bluestone Sunshield?
To clean your Bluestone Sunshield, follow these steps to maintain its appearance and functionality: 1. Cleaning the Lens: Use the Bluestone 3-Piece Cleaning Kit, which includes a spray cleaner and microfiber cloth. Spray the cleaner onto the lens and gently wipe it clean with the cloth. If you don't have the kit, you can use a standard lens cleaner and a soft cloth. Always test on a small area first to ensure compatibility. 2. Cleaning the Headband: The headband is made of water-resistant material. Clean it with soap and water, then allow it to air dry. For added hygiene, you can disinfect the headband with your preferred disinfectant and let it dry completely.
  • How can I adjust the size of the headband?
The headband is designed to naturally mold to your head with regular wear. If you'd like to speed up the adjustment process, gently warm the headband with a hairdryer and reshape it to your desired fit—either larger or smaller. Allow it to cool in place before wearing.
  • What is the best way to travel with your Bluestone Sunshield?
The best way to travel with your Bluestone Sunshield depends on your needs. You can use the convenient travel bag that comes with the sunshield, tie it to your travel bag for easy access, or opt for the Full Lux Hard Case for added protection and durability during your journey. The hard case is ideal for ensuring your sunshield stays safe and secure, especially on longer trips.
  • If the color finish rubs off does it still block UV rays?
Yes! We mix our UV blocking material into the lens rather than it being a spray on top so even if the color wears over time you are still getting great coverage.
